Allan Cramer grew up on a farm north of Prairie du Sac. He graduated from Prairie du Sac High School and earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Platteville State College (now UW-Platteville). He taught social studies for 34 years at Denison Junior High School in Lake Geneva, WI. Inspired by stories of his grandfather who fought in the Civil War, Allan developed a great love of history and was a voracious reader. After retirement, he returned to his hometown and spent many hours reading in the friendly, relaxed atmosphere of the Prairie du Sac Library. It was his desire to support the library so that others would have the same opportunity.
